DIWALI is the biggest festival of Hindu religion. It is celebrated all over India, as well as in Indian communities throughout the world. This year, DIWALI will be celebrated on 21-22-23 October.

During DIWALI, People light small earthen oil-lamps (called diya) in and around their houses.
Many people hang decorative lanterns (similar to Chinese lanterns) outside their houses.

DIWALI is the time for exchanging gifts with family members and friends, and wishing them happiness, success and prosperity. The celebration of the festival is invariably accompanied by the exchange of sweets and the explosion of fireworks.

DIWALI signifies the renewal of life, and accordingly it is common to wear new clothes on the days of the festival. DIWALI also heralds the approach of winter and the beginning of the sowing season.
